Being a Mechanical engineer myself, I know that having a good laptop saves a person lots of time and effort.
The covid-19 pandemic has shaken the educational system and the need for having a good laptop have never been higher.
No matter what lies ahead, your student life will surely revolve around this piece of tech, whether it's researching, playing games, or preparing reports.
So we have gone through the extensive process of selection so that you don't have to. Hence, we have come up with the 9 best laptops for mechanical students under all budgets.
We can't stress this enough that having a good laptop can save a lot of time and effort.
Why does a mechanical student need a laptop?
We as mechanical engineers, need a laptop be it for 3D modeling or preparing reports for projects, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), assignments and much more.

Laptop buying guide for mechanical engineering students
1. Size and weight.
2. Display.
Also, when watching videos, movies, or online lectures, a good display is necessary.
A look for at least a full HD IPS display. An OLED or QLED display is good but is expensive. Don't opt for a TN or VA panel as they have terrible viewing angles and don't have good color reproduction.

3.RAM.
So look for a minimum of 8GB ram. Although we recommend 16GB ram to be a little future proof. If not, you can check out a laptop that you can upgrade to 16GB later on.
4.Processor
The more the cores and the faster the speed of the core, the better is the processor.
On a budget go for 4 cores and if you can afford you can opt for 6 or 8 cores according to your workload. If you are dealing with assemblies with around 100+ parts in 3D modeling, then you must opt for 8 cores minimum.
5.Graphics.
Look for at least a 2GB dedicated graphic card. However, now a days 4GB has become the baseline.
The minimum we recommend is a 4 GB dedicated graphics card of Nvidia 1650 or 1650 super.

You might be thinking after reading this that why I've included gaming laptops extensively in the list.
The reason is that I have preferred performance while making this list so that you can complete your work smoothly.
The ultrabooks are usually light in weight. But a disadvantage is that they come with a very basic graphic card i.e MX 250 or MX 350 for the same price as that of the gaming laptop.
